Dark ambient producer and multi instrumentalist Emra Grid first appeared with his acclaimed debut EP: The Same Face on Opal Tapes in 2016. Since then he has been releasing a steady yet powerful stream of music that has subtly evolved with every release. His sound infuses dark industrial distortion with a dense harmonic pallet, creating a style both serene and ominous.

Emra Grid’s style embodies a constant contrast between suspense and nostalgic warmth. His music ranges from drone to ambient to the outer limits of sound design but is always marked with a characteristic quality of personal content.

"How to replace personal growth" was inspired by the 1995 film "safe" by Todd Haynes where a woman is suddenly affected with "20th century disease" or "totally allergy syndrome" she proceeds to take increasingly aggressive steps to deal with her ailment.

An album i liked so much, i bought it twice. Beautiful synth scapes that pull the listener into deep realms of undulating sonic shimmers and canyon shadows of dub techno. There are nods in the direction of Von Oswald's Channel but the approach is completely signature to Hoavi and it arrives with confidence. I could listen to 'Cosworth' on repeat for an hour and never tire. neglectsound
